THE POSITION
A vacancy has arisen for a Rig Superintendent to join our operations in Angola. Reporting to the Rig Manager, the Rig Superintendent is responsible for the efficient and timely completion of all drilling and well intervention activities and for the health and safety of all personnel working within their control.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE; are (but not be limited to):
Responsible for maintaining the given drilling program in accordance with the client representatives
Evaluate all work carried out to the requirements of the Permit-to-Work system, initiate and write Permits-to-Work as necessary and ensure that all safety precautions are taken and only work is carried out stated in the Permit-to-Work
Responsible for implementing Company and client HSE and ensuring adherence by all on rig site.
Ensure compliance to all relevant Group management systems and where applicable client procedures
Liaise with Client Rep and ensure drilling program is followed, ensuring that KCA DEUTAG work guidelines & Risk Assessments are implemented and followed
Supervise all ongoing operations and instruct Assistant Rig Superintendent and subordinates as required
Responsible for the performance management of the personnel under their authority to ensure standards of behaviour and performance expected by the Group are met
Ensure accurate recording and reporting of all problem events including accidents/incidents
Conduct technical appraisals of drilling and workover programmes, ensuring that any improvements, concerns or remedial actions required, are brought to the attention of the Rig Manager
Ensure that all well programmes are executed properly, efficiently, safely and in accordance with Group, Client and Health & Safety Executive guidelines.
Report directly to Rig Manager on all relevant information with regards ongoing operations
REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Proven experience as Rig Superintendent
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Cyber experience is advantageous
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to coach and mentor others
IWCF / Well Control Supervisors Level
